Job offer Postdoc in Microbial Ecology
We are looking for a qualified person with an experience in microbial ecology that will be involved in research focusing the microbial contribution to the functioning of coniferous forest ecosystem using a complex multi-omics approach. The position will be devoted to the project FICUS that uses the facilities for metatranscriptomics and genomics at the Joint Genome Institute and metabolomics/metaproteomics at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory.

The candidate is expected to study the functioning of microbial communities in forest soils and their interactions with plants using the compination of omics methods. Moreover, it is expected that the candidate will coordinate collaboration with the user facilities JGI and EMSL and with the groups involved in the FICUS project in Norway, France, Germany and USA.
We expect that the applicant has the following qualifications:
• PhD degree within the field of microbiology, ecology, bioinformatics or similar
• Practical experience in the field of bioinformatics, statistics and coding.
• Papers in leading IF journals in the field of microbial ecology, environmental microbiology or bioinformatics
• Fluent English
• Experience with Java scripting, Python programming and the R is an advantage
• Motivation for indepedent scientific work

Monthly salary is 30 000 CZK before taxes (1200 USD).
