On 15 February 2024, Nikola Vildová, MSc. became the new Coordinator for Internal and External Relations of the IMIC. Her task will be to ensure complete PR and marketing activities of the Institute. In particular, communication support for scientific teams, cooperation with the media, web and social network management, as well as organization of professional and popularization events.

Nikola Vildová studied Biomedical Sciences and Science Communication at Leiden University in the Netherlands, where, in addition to her knowledge of science and research, she gained the knowledge to communicate scientific results effectively and clearly to the general public.

She gained experience while working in the External Relations Division of the Czech Academy of Sciences, where she worked on the Photogenic Science and Brain Awareness Week projects, managed communications with scientists, and created press releases and web content.

“I am delighted to be part of a major scientific institution like the IMIC and to present its research to the world. IMIC is working on very interesting areas of biomedicine that deserve more attention. That is why I would like to make the Institute’s research more widely known and highlight the scientists behind it,” says Nikola Vildová.

Jiří Hašek, Director of the IMIC, describes the selection process: “Nikola Vildová went through a proper selection process, in which we had almost twenty candidates.

Her experience in science communication in the Czech Republic and abroad was a major factor in the selection committee’s decision.

Last but not least, we were convinced by the high quality of the tasks she undertook during the process. For example, the preparation of a press release, a presentation of the Institute in English or a communication strategy for social networks.

I am very much looking forward to working with Ms. Vildová and I believe that she will help us raise awareness of the Institute among the professional and non-expert public.”
